The Hon Justyne Caruana, Minister for Education together with the Hon Michael Farrugia, Minister of Senior Citizens and Active Ageing have launched a new publication that will be used in schools during PSCD, to promote respect for the elderly and the importance of remaining active at any age.

The publication “X’se jagħmel Joe?” and its English version “What will Joe do?”, written by Dunstan Hamilton EO PSCD, was published by the Active Ageing and Community Care Unit. Joe, the main character of the book, is a widower who has his ups and downs in life but age will certainly not hinder him from living his life to the full.

A professional development Friday afternoon session is planned for next scholastic year, aimed at giving primary PSCD teachers training on the issue of Elder Abuse and respect for the elderly, following which the books will be distributed to Year 5 students and used in class during PSCD.

The books are already available for free download on Octavo: https://octavo.app/en/store/persons/dunstan-hamilton
