A Professional Learning Experience for DELH Education Officers
Education Officers (EOs) from the Directorate for Early Years, Languages and Humanities (DELH), together with their Director, Dr Alice Micallef, met at the Mikiel Anton Vassali College (MAVC) School of Art. The meeting began with a brief presentation on the School of Art by Mr Roderick Camilleri, Head of School.
This was followed by a hands-on workshop led by Art EO Dr Charmaine Zammit, during which the EOs reconnected with their sensory awareness and explored emotional literacy through guided observation, mark-making and mindful drawing. After the workshop, History Education Officer Mr Raymond Spiteri led the group to the Grand Master’s Palace for a guided tour of Francisco Goya’s Disasters of War etchings, conducted by curators from Heritage Malta.
The programme concluded back at the School of Art with a visit to the printing studio, where Mr Roderick Camilleri, linking to Goya’s etchings, introduced various printing methods, the printing presses, and the school’ s ongoing printmaking courses.
Through this collaboration among DELH, the MAVC School of Art and Heritage Malta, the EOs and the Director of Early Years, Languages and Humanities were offered a valuable learning experience that connected art with the senses and with life, both historical and contemporary.
