L-Aġenzija Nazzjonali tal-Litteriżmu organizzat l-ewwel edizzjoni tal-Festival tal-Irrakkontar tal-Istejjer mit-Tnejn 3 t’April sal-Erbgħa 5 t’April, 2023. F’din l-edizzjoni tal-festival ħa sehem is-Sur Nick Hennessey, rakkontatur tal-istejjer u mużiċist ta’ fama internazzjonali. Fis-sessjonijiet li ta Hennessey ħarreġ kemm lill-istudenti kif ukoll lill-għalliema.

It-Tnejn 3 t’April, madwar 434 studenti u l-edukaturi tagħhom mill-iskejjel li jħaddmu l-metodoloġija tal-irrakkontar tal-istejjer ħadu sehem f’attività ta’ rrakkontar tal-istejjer. Minn fost 32 student/a li rrakkontaw storja lil studenti u edukaturi, kien hemm tmien rebbieħa, mill-kinder sas-sitt sena.  Iġġudikaw il-prestazzjoni tal-parteċipanti, is-Sinjuri Natasha Turner, Ruth Frendo u Nick Hennessey.

Waqt it-tieni jum tal-Festival, it-Tlieta 4 t’April, it-timijiet tal-litteriżmu tal-kulleġġi ħadu sehem f’taħriġ interattiv fl-irrakkontar tal-istejjer immexxi mis-Sur Nick Hennessey.

Fl-aħħar jum, l-Erbgħa 5 t’April, tfal u l-ġenituri/kustodji tagħhom iltaqgħu ma’ Nick Hennessey,  issaħħru bl-istejjer li rrakkontalhom, u rrakkontaw huma stess l-istejjer tagħhom bil-Malti u bl-Ingliż lill-udjenza preżenti.  Wara din l-attività, l-animaturi tal-programmi tal-qari pparteċipaw f’taħriġ interattiv fl-irrakkontar tal-istejjer immexxi mis-Sur Nick Hennessey.

Stories, music and wonder!

The first edition of the Storytelling Festival organised by the National Literacy Agency was held over three days from Monday 3rd to Wednesday 5th April 2023. Nick Hennessey, an internationally acclaimed storyteller and musician was the guest storyteller for this edition. He organised workshops and sessions for students and teachers.

As part of this festival, around 434 students and their educators from schools that are making use of the storytelling methodology for the teaching of literacy took part in a storytelling event on the 3rd of April. A total of 32 students narrated stories to students and educators. Eight winners from Kinder to Year 6 were chosen by the panel of judges made of Natasha Turner, Ruth Frendo and Nick Hennessey.

On Tuesday 4th April, the second day of the festival, the 10 college-based literacy teams participated in an interactive storytelling workshop run by Nick Hennessey.

On the last day, Wednesday 5th April, children and their parents/guardians had the opportunity to meet Nick Hennessey to listen to his awesome storytelling as well as tell their stories in Maltese or English, to the audience. Following this activity, the reading animators of the Agency’s reading for pleasure programmes, participated in an interactive storytelling workshop run by Nick Hennessey.
