The National Literacy Agency’s Reading Stars competition, sponsored by Merlin Library, celebrates and rewards a love of reading. Children and adolescents are invited to submit projects that showcase their reading experiences and inspire others to read.
The competition runs throughout the scholastic year, with parents and educators encouraged to nominate students with a passion for reading. Outstanding submissions are selected for feature on our Facebook page (Brillantini tal-Qari ma’ Merlin Library) and rewarded with book vouchers sponsored by Merlin Library.
The 2024/25 edition was our most competitive yet, attracting a record number of submissions and truly standout performances. Highlights included a stop-motion animation of Robinson Crusoe made with action figures, a creative emergency kit inspired by Dork Diaries character Nikki Maxwell, and a dinosaur terrarium built from book-based facts, among many other memorable entries.
In total, 60 participants were awarded prizes. The full list of winners is as follows:
