The Directorate for Lifelong Learning and Employability (DLE) is pleased to invite all educators of adult learners to attend these two training sessions:
Session 1: Evidence-Based Strategies for Basic Skills Instruction
What You Will Learn:
Adult basic skills, including literacy, numeracy, and digital competence, are foundational for civic participation, lifelong learning, and labour market integration. Yet, across the EU, a significant proportion of adults continue to lack these essential skills. For educators, teaching basic skills effectively requires understanding both the pedagogical foundations and the complex barriers adult learners face.
This training responds directly to this challenge by enhancing the capacity of educators to deliver inclusive, practical, and research-informed instruction in foundational skills. Participants will explore methods to identify and address barriers to learning, deliver differentiated instruction, and implement strategies rooted in practical case studies and reflective practice.
The training shall be conducted by Dr Radek Czahajda, who is a European leader in evidence-based training design, with over a decade of experience delivering educational programs for adult learners across corporate, governmental, and NGO sectors.
The training will be held on Friday, 28th November, 3.30 pm to 8 pm at the Grand Hotel Excelsior, Floriana (Registration opens at 3 pm).

Session 2: Developing Impactful Non-Normal Learning Courses for Adults
What You Will Learn:
– Understand the principles of non-formal adult education and its policy relevance in the EU context
– Design learner-centred, outcome-based non-formal courses
– Apply effective instructional strategies (experiential, project-based, and problem-based learning)
– Integrate tools for inclusive learning, learner motivation, and feedback
– Reflect on quality assurance and impact evaluation in non-formal learning
This training will be conducted by Dr Julija Melnikova, who is a senior research fellow at Klaipėda University (Lithuania), specialising in adult learning, instructional design, and digital pedagogy. She has over 15 years of experience in developing and delivering teacher training programs across Europe and actively contributes to EU-funded initiatives, including Erasmus+ and Horizon Europe. Her expertise lies in project-based learning, non-formal education methodologies, and adult learning experience design.
The session will be held on Friday, 5th December, 3.30 pm to 8 pm at the Grand Hotel Excelsior, Floriana (Registration opens at 3 pm).
