The ‘Aqra d-Dar/Read at Home’ scheme ensures that students aged 3 to 16 are provided with attractive and diverse books they can read at the comfort of their homes.  Through this scheme, all primary, middle and secondary students can borrow up to six books, three in Maltese and three in English to be chosen from age-appropriate catalogues available online:

Books are delivered to their doorstep free of charge in an envelope.

Books can be kept up to a maximum of five weeks and are to be returned in the envelope that they were received in to one of our Book Return Boxes or handed to the person who delivers the new set of books.

In 2021, 627 students benefitted from the scheme. 10,302 books in Maltese and English were distributed.

Parents or guardians who would like their children to join this scheme can apply by filling the form found on the website mentioned above and sending it by email on [email protected] or by post to The National Literacy Agency, Joseph Abela Scolaro Street, Ħamrun.
