L-esebituri tal-Festival tal-Ktieb fuq il-Kampus 2022

Kampus Kotba – il-Festival tal-Ktieb fuq il-Kampus 2022, li se jseħħ bejn l-Erbgħa 23 u l-Ġimgħa 25 ta’ Marzu, se jkun qed jospita numru rekord ta’ pubblikaturi stabbiliti u oħrajn ġodda, bejjiegħa tal-kotba, u entitajiet pubbliċi f’did-disa’ edizzjoni tiegħu. Il-Festival tal-Ktieb fuq il-Kampus huwa t-tieni l-akbar festival tal-kotba f’Malta, isir f’ħidma bejn il-Kunsill Nazzjonali tal-Ktieb (KNK), Dipartimenti tal-Università, u għaqdiet studenteski, u jattira primarjament studenti terzjarji u l-pubbliku ġenerali.

Taħt it-tinda fil-Kwadranglu tal-Università ta’ Malta se jkun hemm miġbura l-pubblikaturi HorizonsMerlin PublishersKlabb Kotba Maltin/Midsea BooksFaraxa PublishingKite GroupMarvellous Malta u Malta University Press, il-bejjiegħ tal-kotba Mallia & D’Amato Booksellers, u l-entitatjiet Għaqda tal-Malti – UniversitàMalta LibrariesInizjamed u Creative Europe Desk Malta.

Uċuħ ġodda – aktar kotba differenti

L-edizzjoni tal-Festival ta’ dis-sena qed tilqa’ kollaborazzjonijet ġodda li se jwasslu għal numru akbar u aktar diversifikat ta’ kotba disponibbli għall-bejgħ. Wieħed ta’ min jinnota lil Mallia & D’Amato Booksellers, magħrufin għas-selezzjoni żgħira imma kkurata ta’ kotba ta’ finzjoni u poeżija – u anki għas-servizz impekkabbli u l-preżentazzjoni tal-kotba. Il-Malta University Press, wara li pparteċipaw għall-ewwel darba fil-Festival Nazzjonali tal-Ktieb is-sena l-oħra, se jkunu preżenti b’għażla ta’ kotba ppubblikati minnhom, l-aktar kotba ta’ studju akkademiku dwar Malta u l-Mediterran b’interess partikulari fl-umanitajiet u x-xjenzi soċjali. Imbagħad hemm Marvellous Malta – dar tal-pubblikazzjoni ġdida mwaqqfa minn fotografu li tispeċjalizza fis-serje tal-kotba fotografiċi dwar l-ambjent naturali Malti.

Dawn l-esebituri se jkollhom għażla ta’ kotba li tvarja minn kotba ta’ finzjoni lokali u internazzjonali – rumanzi, novelli, poeżiji, letteratura mhux fittizja, drama, traduzzjoni, kotba għall-adolexxenti u kotba tat-tfal – sa kotba ta’ riċerka, melitensia, u aktar. Anki bis-saħħa tal-parteċipazzjoni ta’ wħud mill-aħjar pubblikaturi lokali rebbieħa tal-Premju Nazzjonali tal-Ktieb, Kampus Kotba 2022 huwa ċans tajjeb sabiex l-istudenti u l-pubbliku ġenerali jiġu jagħmlu x-xirja tagħhom u fl-istess ħin jattendu xi attività li tkun tolqothom.

Dis-sena l-Kunsill Nazzjonali tal-Ktieb ħadem ukoll ma’ Creative Europe Desk Malta li kkontribwixxew sabiex tinġieb Malta l-mistiedna speċjali ta’ din l-edizzjoni, Jan Carson – rebbieħa tal-Premju tal-Unjoni Ewropea għal-Letteratura f’isem l-Irlanda fl-2019. Fost l-oħrajn Carson se tingħaqad ma’ rebbieħa oħra tal-istess Premju s-sena l-oħra, did-darba f’isem Malta, Lara Calleja, f’diskussjoni mmoderata u mtellgħa minnhom. Min-naħa tagħhom Inizjamed se jkunu qed iwasslu l-Palk Ħieles, li jagħlaq il-Festival nhar il-Ġimgħa.

Il-programm tal-attivitajiet se jkun ippubblikat fil-jiem li ġejjin, u fost l-oħrajn se jkun jinkludi diskussjonijiet tematiċi dwar il-letteratura, il-filosofija, u l-pubblikazzjoni, intervisti ma’ kittieba lokali u internazzjonali, tnedijiet u preżentazzjonijiet ta’ kotba, u apprezzamenti ta’ figuri ċentrali Maltin, fost l-oħrajn.

Fresh faces and a wider book selection

Visitors to this year’s edition will be able to enjoy a wider book selection on sale thanks to new collaborations forged on the occasion of Kampus Kotba. First-time exhibitors Mallia & D’Amato Booksellers, known for their loyal customer base and book curation, will be contributing with their selection of world fiction and poetry books. Following their participation in the 2021 Malta Book Festival, Malta University Press – the scholarly publisher of the University of Malta – will also be at the Campus Book Festival with their high-quality peer reviewed academic works on Malta and the Mediterranean, which have a particular focus on the humanities and social sciences. The recently-established Marvellous Malta will also be presenting festival visitors with its first publication in a series of photographic books showcasing the natural beauty of Malta.

Exhibitors at the Festival are collectively providing a book selection spanning locally-and internationally-published novels, short-story and poetry collections, non-fiction, drama, translated works and YA literature, as well as works of research, Melitensia and more. Also thanks to the continued participation of Malta’s leading and prize winning publishers, Kampus Kotba is an unmissable opportunity for students and the general public to catch up with the latest publications, while also attending a discussion of interest from the Festival’s programme.

The National Book Council has this year collaborated with Creative Europe Desk Malta on inviting the Festival’s international guest: Irish author and winner of the European Union Prize for Literature in 2019 Jan Carson. Carson will be participating in a book-club session and later also joining fellow Maltese EUPL winner Lara Calleja in conversation. In renewed collaboration with Inizjamed, Kampus Kotba will be closing with an Open Mic – a space dedicated to readings and performance held on Friday evening.
