A student rock band with the name Electric Echoes from the Malta Visual and Performing Arts School, Hamrun led by Ms Maria Borg and student drama troupe led by Mr Clint Chircop have recently had successes at GEF festival, held in Sanremo, Italy.  

 The band had a great response from the crowd and was complimented greatly by the presenters and other competitors after their performance on Friday at the Ariston Theatre. On Saturday, they were chosen amongst all other winning acts to open the awards ceremony and performed once again on stage at the Ariston Theatre. They performed a rock re-interpretation of My Favourite Things from The Sound of Music, arranged by their teacher Ms Maria Borg while the drama troupe performed a modern take on Romeo and Juliet, written by their teacher, Mr Clint Chircop. 

Both music and drama groups were awarded 1st in their category and the silver dolphin award for creativity by the GEF Festival. 

A special big thanks goes to the mind behind our participation in the GEF Festival.  Antonella Vassallo who also won the award for promoting Creativity of school and for the Organisation of the Sanremo Junior that takes place in Malta.
