The European Money Quiz is a European competition on financial literacy for 13 to 15-year olds. The Grand Finale, organised by the European Banking Federation (EBF) was held on Tuesday, 20th April 2021.  Malta was represented by Jamie Scerri Richard from St Edward’s College and Keira Privitera from St Clare’s College, Secondary School, Pembroke. The local representatives were the winners of the national selection organised by the Malta Bankers’ Association in collaboration with the Home Economics Seminar Centre within the Directorate for Learning and Assessment Programmes. This is the first time that Malta participated in this European Money Quiz. Due to the COVID-19 outbreak, the European final of the European Money Quiz was held online using the free game-based learning platform Kahoot!

Twenty-eight countries took part in the Grand final. The Maltese team ranked in the sixth place. Hungary’s national finalists placed first, followed by Ireland and Slovakia. Hilde Johansen, Chair of the Education Group within EBF has emphasised the importance of financial education as an important skill for life. Well done to all the organisers, teachers and participants.
