The Science Centre (Pembroke) launched a pilot STEM initiative entitled STEM Explorers – Parent-Kid Club between Wednesday 18th and 27th May. The aim of this initiative is to provide a quality STEM opportunity that engages both parents and children in an outdoor setting. STEM Explorers targets children in KG 1 to Year 2.

Five Primary Schools in Malta and Gozo, namely St Nicholas College Mtarfa Primary, Gozo College Sannat Primary & Special Unit, Gozo College Kercem Primary, St Margaret College Kalkara Primary, and St Clare College St Julians Primary participated in the pilot phase of the project. The different STEM Explorers events took place on different beaches across Malta and Gozo. Children and parents were engaged to explore Science and Mathematics concepts together through a range of activities and interactions. A sandcastle challenge, a floating and sinking activity, a rock balancing activity, and a marble run, were some activities that guaranteed a morning of meaningful edutainment.

The STEM Explorers – Parent-Kid Club sessions will be held again during the forthcoming scholastic year 2022 – 2023
