This year Maria Regina College embarked on a project whereby the E.O. Curriculum, Ms Mary Rose Cordina, created a set a resource packs for Year 1, Year 2 and Year 3 with STEM activities which emerge through stories, to serve as an example and a guide, whenever educators are preparing their lessons and conducting them. These activities with cross subject boundaries allow for investigations that engage children’s imagination. Such activities help keep children focused and engaged.
Two MRC primary schools, MRC Mosta A Primary and MRC St Paul’s Bay Primary, applied for the STEM School Label and were awarded the Competent STEM School Label. Congratulations to the Senior Leadership Team and all the educators for achieving this Label. We are sure that with their hard work and their good practices they will upgrade this Label.
Cross-curricular work offers a creative way to develop children’s knowledge, skills and understanding while motivating them to learn through stimulating, interconnected topics. The College Plan this year emphasised the importance to enhance STEM learning across their setting, providing opportunities for exciting and engaging learning by bringing the curriculum to life with interesting activities and links to the real world of science.
