Induction Seminar for Newly Appointed Teachers

One-hundred and forty newly appointed teachers have been welcomed by the Ministry for Education, Sport, Youth, Research and Innovation ahead of the scholastic year 2023-2024.  A three-day induction seminar was organised between the 19th and 22nd September, by the Directorate for Quality and Standards in Education, the Directorate for Education Resources and the respective Colleges in Malta.

The Education Resources Directorate was responsible to introduce the audience to a 2-year Induction process and explain the Performance Management and Professional Plan (PMPDP) which includes the continuous support provision to teachers during appraisal and mentoring, all leading to the confirmation of employment within the public service and for granting of warrant. The functions of the People Management Department, how the government works and an overview of the services provided by the Employee Support Programme (ESP) were also explained.  Throughout the seminars, priority was given to the provision of quality education for all, teachers’ wellbeing and professional development.
