On 29th October 2024, the National Literacy Agency celebrated young language enthusiasts at this year’s European Day of Languages prize-giving ceremony, Malta’s contribution to the Council of Europe’s celebration of linguistic diversity.
The 2024 competition, themed “What Can You Do in a Foreign Language?”, invited children and youth aged 3 to 18 to showcase their language skills through creative video challenges such as vlogging, storytelling, karaoke, and mini documentaries. Entries were judged on both language ability and creativity, with winners selected across multiple categories.
Held at the National Literacy Centre in Ħamrun, the event welcomed students, families, and educators. Mr David Schembri from the European Commission Representation congratulated participants on their efforts, encouraging further engagement with languages. Ms Tatiana Formosa from St. Catherine’s High School was specially recognised for inspiring the highest student participation this year.
