Gozo College Peter Paul Grech Kercem Primary School has made an outstanding achievement just months after joining the GLOBE Program in October. Their dedication and scientific curiosity have already earned them international recognition!
The school participated in the Tree Reporter Challenge, organized by the GLOBE Europe and Eurasia Regional Coordination Office, and is also actively involved in the national GLOBE Bloom and Buzz Campaign. This campaign is coordinated by GLOBE Malta in collaboration with Europe Direct Gozo.
As part of their research, Year 5 and Year 6 students, together with their teachers and LSEs, conducted an in-depth study on a Carob Tree growing in Lunzjata Valley. They also investigated the best environmental conditions for seed germination, combining scientific methods with hands-on learning. Their efforts were rewarded when both their Carob Tree project and seed investigation were selected as best projects. As a result, the students were invited to present their work during the Best of GLOBE Europe and Eurasia Student Showcase. They received valuable feedback from NASA scientists and experts, further enhancing their learning experience.
The school’s achievements didn’t stop there! Their investigation received the Scientific Inquiry Award!
