Two celebration events were held at the National Literacy Centre on Friday, 5 June 2026, to recognise the achievements of children who participated fully in the Ħlewwet il-Qari / Read Aloud Online Literacy Programme, organised by the National Literacy Agency. A total of 56 students were presented with an MQF Level 1 certificate after successfully qualifying for the Non-Formal Award through their participation in Maltese and/or English sessions.
Parents attending the celebrations expressed their appreciation for the online literacy programme, highlighting the way it offers structured sessions in which teachers model reading fluency and expressive reading for their children. The after-school literacy sessions provided learners with valuable opportunities to experience reading for pleasure and to engage actively in the sharing of stories. During the events, children were also presented with bags containing National Literacy Agency resources and books in Maltese and English to support their continued reading journey.
The animated and interactive nature of the read aloud sessions ensures that children remain actively engaged, as activities are carefully tailored to address their individual needs and challenges. Overall, the Ħlewwet il-Qari / Read Aloud Online Literacy Programme is making a significant contribution to students’ lifelong learning by fostering a love for reading and strengthening essential literacy skills that support both everyday communication and academic success.
