
Wara tliet snin ta’ taħriġ, xogħol u dedikazzjoni, l-L-Iskola Primarja ta’ San Ġiljan ġiet mogħtija l-mertu li tissejjaħ Dyslexia Friendly School.
Grazzi għall-għajnuna tas-servizz tal-SpLD se jħaddnu inizjattivi u strateġiji multisensorjali marbutin mad-dislessija bil-għan li jgħinu lill-istudenti kollha jtejbu l-ħiliet tagħhom. Fost il-metodi li l-staff tħarreġ fihom insibu l-visualisation, l-inferencing, is-sequencing, il-highlighting, il-metodu tal-Look, Say, Cover, Write and Check u bosta metodi oħra.
Flimkien mal-istaff kollu nħoloq pjan ta’ azzjoni sabiex imexxu ’l quddiem sistemi li huma favur l-istudenti li jbatu mid-dislessija.
Meta ngħalqu l-iskejjel fit-13 ta’ Marzu minħabba l-pandemija tal-Covid-19, kellna nirrevedu s-sistema kollha tat-tagħlim għal waħda online. L-istaff kompla jħaddan il-metodi ta’ tagħlim marbutin mad-dislessija anke matul ix-xhur fejn kien ’il bogħod mill-klassi.
After three years of training and hard work, St. Julian’s Primary School has been awarded the title of Dyslexia Friendly School.
Thanks to the help of the SPLD service they have learned to embrace dyslexia-related multisensory initiatives and strategies with the intent of helping all students reach their potential. Among the methods the staff was trained in visualization, inferencing, sequencing, highlighting, Look, Say, Cover, Write and Check method and many other methods.
An action plan was created with all staff to promote systems that promote dyslexia friendly initiatives.
When schools closed on March 13 due to the Covid-19 pandemic, we had to switch to an online system. Staff continued to embrace dyslexia-related teaching methods even during the months away from the classroom.
