A group of Form 3 (Year 9), Form 4 (Year 10) and Form 5 (Year 11) Science Core Curriculum Programme (CCP) students at St. Margaret College Secondary School Verdala, received the Ash rite in class celebrated by the School Spiritual Director, Fr Carmelo Spiteri ocd. Following the Ash rite service, Senior Science teacher Martin Azzopardi sdc invited his Science students to also participate in a SOLIDARITY campaign in hand painting solidarity cards for Ukraine children.

During this exercise, students used their imagination and creativity in hand painting cards using the Ukraine word “Solidarnist’’ (meaning solidarity) as a card title. The rainbow of colours and flowers symbolize a message of hope for Ukraine children. All the solidarity cards will be passed on to the Ministry of Education of Malta so they can be officially sent to Ukraine children who are experiencing the sufferings of war.

This school project aims to reach five of the main goals proposed by the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals:  Good Health and Well-being, Quality Education, Gender Equality, Reduced Inequalities, and Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions.

Special thanksgivings go to LSE’s; Mr Kenneth Abela, Ms Graziella Pulis, Ms Elaine Schembri, Ms Ingrid Cassar, Ms Juanita Cachia, Ms Charmaine Buhagiar, Ms Lynn Zammit Gouder and Mr Robert Axisa for all their help and assistance throughout the science practicum session.
