STMC St Anne Primary School Marsaskala: An Outstanding Performance!

18th February 2023 was an amazing day for a group of year 5 and year 6 pupils attending St Thomas More College Marsaskala St Anne primary school. Around thirty-one pupils worked hard since October 2022 preparing a dance routine for Carnival 2023. Under the direction of Ms Miriam F Grech and with the help of Ms Marisa Farrugia Costa, a dance routine was set up as part of the educational project ‘Let’s Talk Farming’. The school took a cross-curricular approach and developed pupils’ understanding, knowledge and skills about local farming through dance, rhythm, and movement. Dressed as colourful farmers and flowers, these pupils performed their dance routine at Pjazza San Gorg during the children’s Carnival 2023 activities held on Saturday 18th February 2023. All the pupils were buzzing with excitement and not only them! Their performance was simply outstanding!

The school performed also during the launching of Carnival activities held at Ta’ Qali Crafts Village organised by Malta Crafts Foundation, at The President’s Kitchen Garden and in Zabbar square. They gave it their all!

Such an ambitious dream would not have been possible without the collaboration of persons who were committed to this project. Warmest thank you goes to Ms Dashenka Makhmudova and Ms Caroline Zammit for patiently sewing the accessories, Mr Malcolm Schembri for the photos and videos and the parents of this amazing group of pupils for co-operating with the school and keeping up with all the performances. The school would also like to thank festivals Malta for giving these pupils this unique opportunity.
