To celebrate and promote Allied Health Professions among students, the Directorate of Allied Health Services within the Ministry of Health collaborated with Ta’ Paris Middle School in St. Theresa College to raise awareness about the services and career paths in the health and social care fields. This two-day initiative included a talk on various careers within the Allied Health sector and an interactive fair with 13 stands, each representing a different profession, such as dental hygiene, dental technology, dietetics, radiography, phlebotomy, podiatry, psychology, social work, occupational therapy, physiological measurements, physiotherapy, speech and language, ophthalmic support, and audiology.
Students had the opportunity to engage in conversations about career planning by interacting directly with professionals from each occupation. They also had the opportunity to experience how equipment and different tests are used by these professionals in their workplace. The fair, which was coordinated by the middle school SLT and the Career Guidance Team, proved to be particularly beneficial for science teachers as it allowed them to link classroom topics with real-world careers. Overall, this was a rewarding and enjoyable experience for our students.
