On Friday,  13th September, Director for the Early Years, Languages and the Humanities/ DELH, Ms Sandra Ebejer together with Mr Roger Tirazona, Head of Department for Ethics Education within DELH, visited the Caritas Malta, Tal-Ibwar Adoloscent Therapeutic Centre, a facility dedicated to supporting young individuals facing challenges with substance abuse.

Meeting with Dr Daniel Mercieca and Mr Brandon Psaila while witnessing their holistic approach to fostering healing and growth in these adolescents was truly inspiring.  The sense of community, dedication and passion for prioritising the well-being of the residents was palpable.

Congratulations to all the staff and persons involved with the centre for their sterling work!

As a Directorate, we are thrilled to announce that the Ethics curriculum will play an intrinsic role in the journey of the residents. By equipping these young individuals with ethical principles through the curriculum and syllabi, currently fully developed, we aim to enhance their well-being, resilience, decision-making and the essential 21st century competences that will guide them towards a brighter future.

As the Ethics Department within DELH fully supports this initiative, we are optimistic about the transformative power of this collaboration. Together, we will work to empower these adolescents  helping them build, not only healthier lives but also a strong moral foundation as democratic global citizens.

All this was possible to the incessant commitment of Dr Lucienne Zammit (ex EO Ethics), Mr Roger Tirazona and Ms Kirby Caruana as Heads of Department for Ethics Education.
