Aġenzija Żgħażagħ, in collaboration with the VET Health and Social Care Educational Officer and Head of Department, recently hosted the “Persuasive Voices” workshops. These sessions aimed to equip young people with essential communication skills to empower them in various aspects of their lives.
The workshops explored various critical communication techniques, including research and preparation, evidence-based communication, presentation skills, discussion and debate, and non-verbal communication. Participants learned how to gather credible information, structure arguments effectively, support claims with facts and figures, deliver clear and engaging presentations, engage in respectful dialogue, and utilise body language to enhance their message.
Through a series of hands-on activities, participants were encouraged to apply these skills in practical settings. These activities included creative writing, public speaking, role-playing, and debating, providing opportunities to generate ideas, craft compelling narratives, deliver persuasive speeches, simulate real-world communication scenarios, and engage in constructive debates on various topics.
After the session, students expressed feeling more confident and better prepared to tackle upcoming challenges, such as participating in debates. Teachers also praised the session’s practical approach, emphasizing its value in equipping students with crucial skills for personal and academic growth.
The “Persuasive Voices” workshops showcased how empowering young people through hands-on learning and skill development can prepare them to navigate diverse communication scenarios with assurance and competence.
